On Friday, Laynie Luck started her free agency era after it was revealed that WWE ID (Independent Development) would not renew her deal. Because of that decision, Luck concluded her 320-day reign as the Women's ID Champion, and now "Lady Bird" Monica Monroe is the new successor. However, that wasn't the initial plan.

WWE sources told Fightful Select that as of this past summer, Brooke Havok was "considered and even planned" to succeed over Luck and become the third-ever champion of that title. Unfortunately, those plans did not come to fruition after Havok announced she suffered a torn ACL and meniscus last month. Though it's speculation as of this report, Havok may remain out for the next year. It appears WWE ID planned on offering Havok a deal, but Fightful could not confirm if the deal ended up happening.

Luck, who is the former and longest Women's ID Champion currently, originally won the championship in November 2025 after winning a six-woman elimination match. She defended her championship across several different independent promotions, including Cody Rhodes' Nightmare Factory, Beyond, Uprising Women Athletes, and Future Stars of Wrestling.

Even though most would be upset that their contract was not renewed by a titan company like WWE, Luck took the news in stride, saying in a recent post on X [formerly known as Twitter] that she is, "a lucky girl and everything will work out for her."
