WWE's Cody Rhodes Says Career Has Been On Upward Trajectory Since Getting Neck Tattoo
Former Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has commented on his neck tattoo, a large depiction of his "American Nightmare" logo, before, but during the media tour ahead of his new movie, "Street Fighter," Rhodes has revealed not only the design's connection to the original game, but also, how it hasn't negatively impacted his career. Rhodes appeared on Mythical Kitchen's "Last Meals," and spoke more about the tattoo's history.
He said he got the ink following his time in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, with the promotion's Bullet Club. Rhodes explained that he wanted to get away from the faction's design with its guns.
"I wanted to get away from that, no disrespect, I just wanted my own logo," he said. "So, when doing the American Nightmare logo, it's a bit derivative of Shadaloo, which is one of the main villains of the 'Street Fighter' cannon and M Bison's logo... When you're looking up in the Burlesque Hall, in one of the scenes in the movie because M Bison welcomes you to his World Warrior tournament, it's actually one of the examples I gave the artist who made this logo in the first place."
Since debuting the tattoo at AEW Revolution 2020, Rhodes has gone on to do many things both in Hollywood and the professional wrestling world. He returned to WWE in 2022 and has held the Undisputed WWE Championship three times. Those successes are why the "American Nightmare" doesn't sweat his decision too much.
"I'll say it's a regret because of maybe the logo itself, because of its size and its placement, but it's been nothing but a career on an upwards trajectory ever since," Rhodes said.
