Backstage Report On AEW's Early Plans For Adam Copeland's 2027 Retirement
Adam Copeland announced that he will retire from pro wrestling in 2027 and a report has discussed the likely location for the AEW star's farewell.
Copeland revealed on this past week's "AEW Dynamite" that he would hang up his wrestling boots next year, bringing to an end a legendary career. "Wrestlevotes on Fightful Select" has reported that there's no information as to where or when his final match will be held, but a source suggested that AEW would likely try to hold it in Toronto, in Copeland's home country of Canada.
The WWE Hall of Famer confirmed last year that he wants to end his pro wrestling career in AEW, with him crediting AEW with having breathed new life into his wrestling career.
As he winds down his pro wrestling career, Copeland ticked off an important item on his bucket list – wrestling at Maple Leaf Gardens, a venue where he witnessed several wrestling matches growing up. The veteran star recently competed there at Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling's Northern Rising show, defeating Steve Maclin in the main event. A week later, he wrestled in AEW in a Clockwork Carnage qualifying match, defeating Josh Alexander to secure a spot on the WrestleDream card, where he will compete for the AEW World Championship in a Clockwork Carnage match.
