Latest Update On Current Plans For WWE WrestleMania 43 Main Events
When it comes to a show like WWE WrestleMania, plans have to be made well in advance, and in the case of WrestleMania 43 which takes place next April in Saudi Arabia, plans have already been put in to place. A recent report from Fightful Select suggested that some of the marquee matches have already been penciled in, but a new report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests that nothing is concrete at the time of writing.
According to Meltzer, the idea of having Roman Reigns defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Oba Femi on night two of the event is still very much the plan, which was part of the original report from Fightful Select. However, the part that isn't the plan at the moment is to have Cody Rhodes take on CM Punk in the main event of night one, which Fightful didn't outright report as it was only mentioned that Rhodes and Punk would just have major roles to play. Meltzer noted that the bout is not the current direction, though he did say that it would make sense since the two men are the biggest stars on "WWE SmackDown" right now, and have been purposely kept apart since their initial interaction after WWE SummerSlam 2026.
Meltzer rounded off by saying that since the show is still just under six months away, these plans are naturally subject to change due to various circumstances like injuries. One thing that is still subject to change is the date of the event itself as nothing has been officially announced by WWE. The weekend of April 10 and 11 has supposedly been penciled in, though WWE is keeping the date under wraps for now, not just because the logistics of the even taking place in Saudi Arabia being more difficult than if it took place in North America, but because it also prevents companies like AEW running a show directly opposite WrestleMania 43.
