In what may turn out to be the most controversial decision in pro wrestling this year, WWE has remained committed to holding their upcoming Crown Jewel PLE in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, even as the country continues to be attacked by the Houthis from Yemen. And despite many hoping that WWE/TKO will change their mind about the show before it takes place on November 7, especially in the wake of a US memo warning of more violence, there remains no sign that things will change. PWInsider reports that not only is WWE moving forward with the idea that Crown Jewel will be in Riyadh, but that the setup for the show has already begun.

The latter news had previously been revealed a few days ago on X, when video from Riyadh confirmed that the Riyadh Season Stadium, a temporary stadium, was under construction for Crown Jewel. It is unclear whether the ongoing setup involves WWE personnel already on hand in Riyadh, or if the reconstruction is being handled by the Saudi government. Regardless, the ongoing reconstruction of the Season Stadium would suggest that the show is a go, barring an unforeseen change.

While some reports have suggested that WWE does have contingency plans in either the United States or Europe should they be unable to travel to Saudi, the promotion has publicly maintained that there's been no change in plans and little to no expectation towards there being a change. Many believe that WWE's willingness to go ahead with the show, despite the serious security concerns, are due to the monetary ties between WWE/TKO and the Saudi government, with the money earned from Crown Jewel and other WWE/TKO events in Saudi expected to contribute positively to the promotion's Q4 earnings.
