It's no secret that the "WWE NXT" women's division has long impressed WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray. Coming out of this week's episode of "WWE Raw," though, the rising stars might now have some unexpected competition for his attention.

On "Busted Open Radio," Ray heaped praise for the women wrestling on WWE's red brand, particularly the six given the spotlight during the October 26 broadcast.

"For as long as I can remember now, I've been coming on this show and putting over the NXT women's division," Ray said. "Putting them over to the point where I've said that they are the best women's division in the WWE. I believe that they are the best women's division in all of wrestling. Those NXT women bust their a**, they perform. NXT does a great job of constantly turning over new quality female talent. But I'll be damned if the women on Monday Night Raw last night did not give those NXT women a run for their money and put on an amazing job last night."

Monday night's episode of "Raw" took WWE to Fresno, California, where six women competed across three contests. The first pitted Lyra Valkyria against her former tag team partner Bayley in a No Disqualification Match, with "The Role Model" emerging victorious after making Valkyria tap out to a kendo stick-assisted crossface.

The second saw WWE Women's Intercontinental Champion Raquel Rodriguez battle IYO SKY in a non-title bout. SKY picked up the win after reversing a Tejana Bomb into a roll-up.

Slotted in the "Raw" main event was a title match between WWE Women's World Champion Liv Morgan and her challenger, Becky Lynch. This bout particularly amazed Ray as it pitted one of WWE's arguable all-time greats against a fast-improving champion.

Morgan and Lynch Deliver In The Raw Main Event

"I believe that since the Busted Open after Raw in Philadelphia, where Liv Morgan sat and said, 'Start watching as of tonight, because tonight everything changes for Liv Morgan.' We kind of had heard that song and dance before from Liv. Start, stop, start, stop, gas, breaks. But I'll be damned if from that day she has not stepped up her game every time she goes out there," Ray said.

"And when Liv is in the ring with women who are technically better wrestlers than her, perception wise better wrestlers than her, she steps up to the plate and she delivers. There are some that consider Becky Lynch to be the best women's wrestler in the WWE. It's a discussion, but there's some who believe that. Well, Liv Morgan stood toe-to-toe and went blow-for-blow with Becky Lynch last night."

Initially, plans called for Lynch to collide with Stephanie Vaquer in a number one contender's match. When "Raw" General Manager Adam Pearce later revealed that Vaquer was not medically cleared to compete, they pivoted to Morgan vs. Lynch for the championship in the show's main event.

According to Ray, the chemistry between Morgan and Lynch was evident last night, and potentially better than what fans would have seen in the ring from Lynch and Vaquer.

"The Man" appeared to have Morgan down for the count in Fresno when she delivered a Man Handle Slam. Before she Lynch secure a complete pinfall, however, Morgan's Judgment Day cohorts Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez charged into the ring to cause an intentional disqualification. As a result, Lynch technically won the match, but Morgan officially retained the WWE Women's World Championship.
