Former WWE star Zelina Vega, who now goes by Xelina in the ring, was the second woman in company history to hold the Women's United States Championship, after she defeated Chelsea Green for the gold in April 2025. Xelina would go on to reign for 63 days before dropping the title to Giulia, and she revealed on an episode of "Ring the Belle" that she and Green had actually dreamed up a much different story surrounding Xelina's reign.

The star explained that they knew they needed to do something to get the heel Green booed, and herself cheered. The story revolved around an addition to the Secret Hervice that never came to fruition.

"I was like, 'What if we did something where it was like whatever pay-per-view or whatever it is, I win the title, but then, the very next show, we have a rematch,'" she explained. "At that point, Zoey [Stark] was supposed to be joining them. 'Then, at that point, you would win it back, but have Zoey come in, like beat the ever-loving s*** out of me. Make it disgusting, like make it really bad so people will feel for me. I can get that kind of sympathy back and then you guys are sitting up there, the big heels. You got your title back and it's great.' Now, I have something to chase... She loved the idea, she's like, 'Let's do it.'"

Xelina said she and Green pitched it together, but things obviously ended up happening very differently. She also mentioned the heat on Road Dogg from the scene of "WWE Unreal" where he suggested switching the gold back to Green, and said that he was just trying to pitch what the women had already come up with.

Vega keeps title

Xelina said that Paul "Triple H" Levesque had different ideas for her, and wanted to keep the Women's United States Championship on her. She believes that could be due to the reaction she got from the crowd after winning the gold, her first singles title in WWE. Xelina said she wanted to show audiences what the title meant to her, so when it was ripped away, it felt even more "disgusting."

"It was supposed to go a different way and didn't, and I think because of that, it almost worked against us," she said. "I didn't get to defend the title much. It didn't go the way we wanted to, but ultimately, I'm so glad I got to have it and I had the experience I did with it, but we wanted to do it a little bit differently."

The former champion said she wished Levesque let her defend the title the way she wanted. She explained she wanted to take it to AAA and even Stardom, to show off that it was the "workhorse title" for the women.

"There's things that I wish were different. I'm still very thankful that it happened," Xelina said. "Obviously, we are just characters in someone else's storybook, and being an artist and someone who likes to create, it's very difficult for us to grasp that sometimes."
