The October 29 episode of "TNA Impact" wasn't a good night at the office for Matt and Jeff Hardy as they were defeated by syX in a Slaughterhouse syX match, with both Samuel Shaw and Joseph Sawyer going the extra mile to take out Jeff in particular. Towards the end of the match, Jeff had a trash can placed over his head and both Shaw and Sawyer hack into it with axes to incapacitate him, but this was a move to not only give syX a big win over the former TNA World Tag Team Champions, but it was to also write Jeff off of television.

According to Fightful Select, there are two main reasons why Jeff has been written off of television. The first is a nagging injury he has been dealing with in his neck, with Matt even detailing on a recent episode of his "Extreme Life of Matt Hardy" podcast that Jeff has had bulging disks in his neck which requires him to take time off. TNA sources noted that Jeff won't need surgery right now, though that could change if things don't improve for him during his stint away.

The second reason, and one that is much more prominent for TNA's upcoming schedule is that the company will be holding its TNA Destination X 2026 Premium Live Event in Canada (Edmonton, Alberta to be specific) on November 14, which will be followed up with two "Impact" tapings in Calgary on November 18 and 19 respectively. Due to Jeff's previous legal issues, he is not allowed into Canada as the country is very strict when it comes to people with criminal records, and so the company wrote him off of television as a way to explain why he won't be on the next set of shows.

However, TNA could still keep Jeff in the loop with pre-tapes and vignettes, with one source within the company calling it a "perfect storm" as Jeff will have no choice but to rest up and rehab his neck problems. Jeff is expected back in December for the "Impact" tapings in Texas, but he will be active while TNA is in Canada as he set to appear at the WrestleCade convention in North Carolina, and on Chris Jericho's "Rock N Wrestling Rager at Sea."
