Dave Meltzer Provides Details On Upcoming WWE Retirement Of Bruce Prichard
Last week, it was reported that WWE executive director of creative writing and talent, Bruce Prichard is set to retire following WrestleMania 43. He is expected to remain with WWE as a consultant. Pritchard is rumored to need a "very serious surgery" and will be working from home more. Once he retires from his current position, he will also be able to move away from Stamford, Connecticut, home of the WWE headquarters.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided more details about Prichard's health. He had been told that Pritchard is having neck surgery stemming from an injury he suffered in 1991.
"He never knew he broke his neck when it happened. This is like, 35 years later. Who was he working with...Ultimate Warrior? Probably messed up a lot of guys. I heard yesterday that it was back surgery. But either way, he's having one or two major surgeries. And going on the road every week, it's just going to be too difficult, makes all the sense in the world. He's staying with the company. He's going to be a consultant. He's planning on working through WrestleMania and then taking the time off the road."
Following the reports of Prichard's impending retirement, it was reported that WWE Hall of Famer Shawn "HBK" Michaels would be taking over Prichard's role. Michaels is the current "NXT" head and Senior Vice President of Talent Development and Creative.
