Adam Copeland Says He & Tony Khan Were 'Open' To Final WWE Match With John Cena
John Cena's retirement tour saw the legend cross paths with the likes of CM Punk, Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton, and team up with Rey Mysterio and Sheamus. Fans even got to see him have one last clash with AJ Styles. Still, many felt the overall matchups underwhelmed, especially because he never got to face some of his most important rivals, like Batista and Adam 'Edge' Copeland.
Copeland recently sat down with Mick Foley on his "The Mick and Kenny Show" podcast, where he said there would've been no obstacle.
"I know I was open to it," Copeland admitted. "I know Tony [Khan] was open to it."
The veteran had also previously commented on his and Khan's openness to a one-off WWE appearance, suggesting that it was ultimately down to WWE to share their eagerness. Copeland also acknowledged the importance of his history with Cena, but expressed that he didn't have faith that WWE would've made the matchup happen after his years in the promotion.
The reference also doesn't just go one way, as earlier this year Cena also shared why he believes that both Copeland and Orton are his two greatest rivals, and explained how important both men were to his WWE career.
Even though Copeland couldn't make the tribute show clash happen, he still managed to pay tribute to Cena when he had the AEW All Out 2025 Opener, hitting both the 'Five-Knuckle Shuffle' and 'Attitude Adjustment' to Cash Wheeler during the match.
