NJPW Announces Closure Of American Subsidiary
After its seven-year establishment to expand its product globally, New Japan Pro-Wrestling publicly announced its closure of its American subsidiary, New Japan Pro-Wrestling of America Inc.
On Friday morning, NJPW released the following statement on Instagram: "New Japan Pro-Wrestling hereby announces that subsidiary New Japan Pro-Wrestling of America Inc. will cease operations and enter liquidation. As NJPW continues to optimize allocation of management resources in a rapidly changing business environment, the decision was made to close the subsidiary, which was founded in 2019. Moving forward, NJPW events in North America will continue to be held with the full backing and resources of the TV Asahi group, as part of a new chapter in NJPW's ongoing global expansion."
As of this report, NJPW is coming off its Power Struggle 2026 event. Following it, the promotion revealed the 2027 card for its annual first of the year event, Wrestle Kingdom 21, that will be held on January 4, at the Tokyo Dome. AEW stars/former franchise players of NJPW Kenny Omega, Jon Moxley, the AEW World Champion Will Ospreay, and MJF each will participate in this blockbuster event, with Omega gunning for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against its current champion, Yota Tsuji.
