As previously reported, "WWE NXT" will replace its annual last of the year PLE (Premium Live Event), Deadline, with its version of TLC, on Saturday, December 12, at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. That said, part of Deadline's charm consisted of having a traditional Men and Women's Iron Survivor Challenge. Since that will not be showcased this year, many are wondering if this specialized contest could make its way up to the main roster soon.

According to Fightful Select, who spoke with two sources, it was acknowledged that the Iron Survivor Challenge matches have been discussed in the past; however, they couldn't confirm if its absence from this year's "NXT" schedule makes that possibility any more likely, as of this report. An additional source did say that this stylized match could fit into a few current storylines, one of them being the Undisputed WWE Championship picture with Sami Zayn.

In the past, the Iron Survivor Challenge acted as a number one contendership match to the NXT and Women's NXT Championships, where the overall winner (out of five people) would face the then champion at "NXT" New Year's Evil. In order to obtain the victory, each wrestler attempts to score the most falls within a 25-minute time limit. At last year's Deadline, Je'Von Evans and Kendal Grey won their respective Iron Survivor Challenges, with two and three falls, respectively.
