Federal Judge Issues TRO In Hulk Hogan Estate's Lawsuit Against Bubba The Love Sponge
Hulk Hogan may have passed away earlier this year, but he remains in the news, particularly when it comes to former friend Bubba Clem, aka Bubba the Love Sponge. The first to signal that Hogan's health was failing, Clem has continued to speak about Hogan since his death, and word recently emerged that he was working on a documentary about Hogan, prompting Hogan's estate, led by his son, Nick, to sue him in order to stop its release.
Last Thursday, Hogan's estate did earn a small victory. Creating Loafing Tampa Bay reports that U.S. District Judge Tom Barber issued a ruling granting a temporary restraining order to block Clem from showing footage of Hogan's infamous sex tape in the documentary. The ruling agreed with the estate's notion that Clem planned to show excerpts from the tape, and said that Clem had "surreptitiously recorded the wrestler in 2007 in "consensual private conduct" and transferred the video to a DVD."
Wrestling fans are all too familiar with the Hogan sex tape featuring the WWE Hall of Famer and Clem's then wife, which later caused controversy when the tape leaked and showed Hogan making racist comments on video. Hogan would later sue Clem and Gawker, who posted an edited version of the tape; Hogan emerged victorious over Gawker in court, while he settled with Clem.
While Barber blocked Clem from including anything regarding the sex tape in the documentary, he did not halt Clem going ahead with showing the rest of the finished product. According to the ruling, the documentary will be released this Friday during a private screening.
