Former WWE Star Joe Gacy Talks Initially Joining Wyatt Sicks

The Wyatt Sicks were perhaps one of the most unique factions WWE has seen in modern history, with Bo Dallas, brother of the late Bray Wyatt, leading the group to honor Wyatt as his Uncle Howdy character. Dexter Lumis, Joe Gacy, Nikki Cross, and Erick Rowan worked together to portray the various characters that Wyatt had created in his Firefly Funhouse universe, including Gacy as "Huskus the Pig Boy."

Gacy spoke with Denise Salcedo about the beginnings of the group. He said he found out months before anything really started moving with the group, and heard rumblings when Wyatt was alive, and he was working in "WWE NXT." Gacy had no idea he was being considered, until he got a call from someone in creative.

"I was like, 'Oh, wow. Okay,'" he said "I was blown away that I was even being considered, but part of me was also like, 'The way this business works, I'll believe it when I see it.' I was trying to keep my expectations low, not fully expecting it to happen. Because, I knew what it meant. I knew not only was it being a part of this legacy group, but for me, it was a call-up to the main roster. So that's like two big things that again, I was trying to not get too excited for, because things change every minute."

Gacy said he then didn't hear anything for months, before everyone in the group was contacted. There was a meeting at WWE Headquarters, and he said that's when everything really started to get rolling.

Gacy said the Wyatt Sicks was pitched slightly differently to the group during the meeting at headquarters. He believed it was never really fully conveyed on TV, but the idea was centered around the traumatic event of Dallas losing his brother. The loss led to him dealing with a split personality disorder, thus the Uncle Howdy character.

"The idea was supposed to be, Bo Dallas being a little out of his mind, convinced these other groups of people that were kind of lost in the shuffle or maybe also went through their own traumas to join him," Gacy explained. "Then through his split personality, would develop us into taking on these, for lack of a better term, puppet characters. The idea, the way it always was explained to us, was going to be like, 'You are Joe Gacy, but you are being convinced to portray Huskus as a way for Bo Dallas to kind of cope with it.'"

Gacy said he believed they could have made some really interesting videos with the concept, but they never had the chance. He said the group was never meant to be outright "culty," as the idea was also that they were a tight-knit family. He said they did become that kind of family in real life, and they're still close to this day.

"We all hit it off pretty immediate," he said. "I think all of us really jelled together seamlessly... We all had the same vision and we all kind of went into every TV taping with the same goals. That aspect was really easy and great. Working with everybody was amazing.
