AEW's Will Ospreay Trades Heated Words With NJPW Star As Cracks Form In United Empire

The tension between Will Ospreay and Callum Newman didn't go away after Newman, Franceso Akira, and HENARE cornered Ospreay at All In. On "Dynamite", it was announced that Ospreay, Akira, and Andrade El Idolo were facing Jon Moxley, PAC, and Gabe Kidd next week. Newman claimed in postmatch comments in Japan that Akira didn't tell him that he was going to AEW. He believes Akira's loyalties lie with Ospreay and asks who else is going to leave him to join Ospreay.

Ospreay responded on X (formerly known as Twitter) asking why this was a thing because Newman's guys are his guys and vice versa. "You're making it sound like there's a turf war, when really we are spreading a faction that I started across multiple promotions. Don't hold back progress little bro. You won't like the outcome, @PrinceofpaceCN."

Newman's only response was to stop calling him little bro. Ospreay replied by asking him if "little c***" was better. Newman told Ospreay he'd remember that with Ospreay retorting that he'd hear it less if he stopped acting like one.

El Idolo replied to Newman about Akira not telling him about his AEW match. He acknowledged that Newman is the one that invited him to join the United Empire and reminded him he'll have to face Ospreay eventually as Number One contender. "I know you have your problems with him! But I'm still waiting for my invitation so we can meet up again." Newman let him know he was always welcome and didn't need an invitation.

Newman is competing in NJPW on "The Road to Destruction" shows where he is preparing to go one on one with former United Empire member, Jeff Cobb on September 27. That show is one day after Ospreay defends the Men's World Championship against Moxley at All Out.
