Former WWE Star Joe Hennig (Aka Curtis Axel) Ends DWI Case By Reaching Plea Agreement

Former WWE star Curtis Axel, real name Joe Hennig, the son of "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig, reached a plea deal in his DWI case, according to a new report. Hennig was arrested on May 17 following a crash in a Minnesota McDonald's drive-thru, where police said he smelled strongly of alcohol, and reportedly had to be forcibly removed from his vehicle.

According to Fightful, citing court documents, Hennig pled guilty to the charges of DWI and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors, on August 24. He faced other charges that were dismissed, including interfering with a peace office. Hennig refused chemical testing during arrest, another charge that was dropped.

Fightful reported that Hennig was given a 90-day sentence following the plea, but was credited three days for time served, and the other 87 days were stayed. The stay means Hennig will be placed on supervised probation for the next year, though Fightful noted the probation period has the chance to become unsupervised with good behavior. If Hennig cooperates, he will not serve any more jail time. The former WWE star has already completed a required assessment and course, and will have to pay a $50 fine, in addition to the terms of his probation.

Hennig was arrested after reportedly backing into another vehicle in the McDonald's drive-thru. When police arrived on-scene, they found an open bottle of vodka in his vehicle, and officers had to reach inside the truck to turn it off. The initial report stated Hennig swore at officers and used a slur, and swore at McDonald's employees, as well as the other driver.

The former WWE star has largely remained out of the public eye. He was released from WWE, his second time with the company, in 2022. He had been working backstage as a producer.
