Roman Reigns Comments On WWE Schedule, Says It 'Doesn't Make Sense' To Do Live Events
2024 and 2025 saw a noticeable reduction in WWE live events (also known as house shows). In 2026, however, the schedule has revved up again, with main roster live event tours taking place in the winter, summer, and fall months of 2026.
Despite this overall change in pace, the personal schedule of WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns' will remain as is. In a recent interview with "Club Shay Shay," he explained why.
"I think we're trying to run more live events. They are good, but we're just at a business model where TV rights are TV rights, and there's just so much money on the line that we got to that point where it's just like, it doesn't make sense for me to do live events anymore," Reigns said. "What if I got hurt? There's so much money that's riding on Mondays and Fridays and our PLEs now that I can't just go out there and wrestle for 4,000, 5,000 only, just for those eyes only. Now, I got to conserve it. But those reps, they're critical. To have a fresh crowd, every single night, you can run the same thing."
In his early WWE days, Reigns noted that he consistently worked between 150 to 200 shows a year, which greatly helped him sharpen many of the skills required to be a WWE Superstar. "The OTC" believes that the current landscape of rising WWE stars can achieve the same through their own live event reps.
Since 2022, Reigns has operated on a part-time schedule with WWE. Following his world title win at WrestleMania 42, though, he's appeared more frequently on WWE programming. His latest outing resulted in him retaining the World Heavyweight Championship over LA Knight at Money in the Bank. His last live event match took place in October 2023.
