WWE's Drew McIntyre Teases On-Screen Partnership With Academy Award Winning Actor
Once he comes back, WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre is gunning to reposition himself as the next world champion. And he won't stop at nothing to get there, even if he has to bring one of his co-stars from the film to the ring. On the "Joe Vulpis Podcast," the former one-time World Heavyweight Champion said that Academy Award winning actor and co-star in "The Last Druid" and "Highlander," Russell Crowe, has his sights set on following McIntyre to the ring. Though, it's a conversation "The Scottish Warrior" will have to have with WWE management first.
"Russell was legitimately talking about...he wanted to do something a couple of times," McIntyre said. "Oh, he got all excited about us doing something together in the same team, and talked about WrestleMania, or whatever. He talked about us having a manager, like an assistant, kind of like you. It was more of a heel thing he was coming up with. He had some great ideas. He's willing to do it."
It's been nearly 200 days since WWE fans last saw McIntyre compete in the ring. His last match, featured at WrestleMania 42, was a loss to Jacob Fatu, in an Unsanctioned Match. Their rivalry came to a head after Fatu cost McIntyre his third reign with the Undisputed Championship, allowing Cody Rhodes to claim his third reign with the title on the March 6 edition of "WWE SmackDown."
Since that unfortunate defeat, McIntyre has transitioned his time by accepting several different movie roles not only for the two films mentioned above, but also for "Hexed" and WWE and ReelShort's recently released micro-drama, "The Agent of Shadows," as its main character, Roscoe.
