John Cena Confirms WWE Raw Appearance Will Provide Details On John Cena Classic
John Cena is set to return to "WWE Raw" on Monday, live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and he confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) ahead of the show that he will be revealing more details about the John Cena Classic. The star previously revealed the concept of the tournament at WWE Backlash in May.
Cena quoted WWE's post about his return to the red brand and touted the special 6 p.m. EST start time of the event. He also announced that WWE has "officially entered the season... the CLASSIC season."
"There have been many questions asked by patient observers, TONIGHT we lay the foundation for this history-making event," Cena wrote.
At Backlash, Cena revealed he wanted to provide a platform for "WWE NXT" talent to go face-to-face with main roster stars, similar to how many matches at the WWE Saturday Night's Main Event special featuring Cena's retirement match were booked. During his initial announcement, Cena said that fan input would be crucial to the event, as fans will choose the winner of the tournament, no matter the results of the matches in the ring.
We've officially entered the season... the CLASSIC season!
There have been many questions asked by patient observers, TONIGHT we lay the foundation for this history-making event.

Cena has commented on the John Cena Classic in various interviews, including during a press tour for "Matchbox: The Movie," but has kept mum on the details. A recent Fightful Select report revealed that WWE creative held multiple meetings about the tournament, and other big names had been consulted about it, including AJ Styles and "NXT" head of creative Shawn Michaels.
A date for the competition, or if it's going to be held on one night as a premium live event, has also not been announced. Reports suggested that it could go up against AEW Worlds End, the company's last pay-per-view of the year, set for Saturday, December 19.
