TNA's Chris Bey Shouts Out WWE Champion CM Punk For Support During Injury Recovery

TNA star Chris Bey has detailed his friendship with CM Punk and how the Undisputed WWE Champion has been there for him throughout his recovery from his injury.

Bey suffered a serious neck injury in 2024, which resulted in an outpouring of support from all corners, including from Punk. He said in an interview with "The Sportster" that his first interaction with Punk happened in TNA, discussing how Punk has always been there for him, even more so after his injury.

"Another guy I idolized growing up [was Punk], you know, was very inspired by the straight edge lifestyle, to just the promos and the gear. I had similar gear when I first started in wrestling. The shoes under the kick pads, everything I've been inspired by him, and I'm so grateful to have his support and friendship," he began. "I met him many years ago at a TNA event, and from there I've always just been very open about how much I appreciate him and his contributions to the business and what him being authentic has done for people's personal lives. And I think he appreciated that, and then once the injury happened, he was always there, you know, texting me, checking up on me, seeing what the percentages were looking like, seeing what the recovery was looking like, if I needed anything, he was there."

Punk referenced Bey during a promo on "Raw" in 2025, just a few months after the TNA star suffered his injury.

Bey on his and Punk's physical transformations

Chris Bey also discussed the photo he posted in May alongside Punk, sharing details about a gym session he had with Punk, and also pointed out how both of them have undergone physical transformations. In a conversation they had after Punk won the world title, the WWE World Champion told Bey that he wanted to work out with him again.

"He was in town. I said, 'Hey, man, what's the gym plans? I know that's where you're going.' So we're both in this mode right now where we're trying to get in the best shapes of our lives, and we're both carrying around food scales and weighing every single thing we eat. And I think it shows in his physique and in mine right now," he said. "As soon as he won the title, I was watching the show. I knew they were in Chicago. I had a feeling something cool was going to happen. I was watching the show. As soon as it happened, I texted him, just like, you know, 'Yes!' and he's like, "Let's hit the gym. That's the next move, you know?" 'Cause, you know, he's a workhorse right now."

Bey added that his own physical transformation has been progressing well post his injury, revealing how he's now back to the weight he was at when he suffered the injury. The TNA star concluded by saying that Punk is in great shape and is the best in the business currently.
