AEW's Mercedes Mone Reacts To Social Media Boast From Ric Flair

It wouldn't be a day that ended in Y if Ric Flair didn't have a social media post that raised the eyebrows of fans everywhere. But he likely didn't expect what he posted on Instagram on Sunday to catch the ire of former AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone. That's exactly what happened though, as Mone responded to Flair's boast that his daughter, Charlotte Flair, was not only the greatest heel in women's wrestling history, but the greatest women's wrestler period.

"Do you want to get your ass kicked Ric?" Mone asked. "Wooooooooo."

Flair and Mone are no strangers to each other, in large part thanks to Mone's lengthy association with Charlotte during her time in WWE as Sasha Banks. As two of the Four Horsewomen alongside Becky Lynch and Bayley, Mone and Charlotte were initially stablemates in "WWE NXT" before developing a rivalry on the main roster that saw the two trade the WWE Raw Women's Championship back and forth during 2016. Flair himself has been largely complimentary towards Mone throughout her career, including praising the feud between her and Charlotte. He has yet to respond to Mone's statement.

Mone is only a few days away from yet another major match in her career, as she is set to battle rival Willow Nightingale for the AEW Women's World Championship at AEW All In. It will be Mone's second straight attempt to capture the AEW Women's Title at All In, having come up short one year ago when challenging "Timeless" Toni Storm for the belt. Should Mone be able to overcome Nightingale, it would make her only the third woman in AEW history to have held both the AEW Women's and TBS Championships, joining Nightingale and Kris Statlander.
