Drew McIntyre Shares Training Video Amid Lengthy WWE Absence

Former Undisputed WWE Champion Drew McIntyre took to social media on Friday to share that he's back training in the ring. McIntyre, who has been absent from WWE following his WrestleMania 42 loss to Jacob Fatu, posted a short clip of himself running the ropes to Instagram.

"Reps," is all the "Scottish Psychopath" captioned the clip. The post had over 52,000 likes in just four hours, and fans took to the comments to hope for a speedy return to the WWE ring for McIntyre.

McIntyre lost an unsanctioned match to Fatu on night one of WrestleMania 42. The month before, he dropped the Undisputed WWE title to Cody Rhodes on a March episode of "WWE SmackDown," after Fatu prevented him from using a chair on the "American Nightmare." McIntyre won the gold from Rhodes in a Three Stages of Hell match, thanks to Fatu's help.

The star has had a busy Hollywood film schedule this year. He filmed alongside "Superman" actor Henry Cavill for the "Highlander" reboot, where he plays Cavill's brother. McIntyre will also star alongside Russell Crowe in "The Last Druid." He has previously appeared in "The Killer's Game" alongside Dave Bautista, a film released in theaters in September 2024.

Ahead of SummerSlam, PWInsider reported that McIntyre was circling around several other projects in Hollywood. A solid date for his return to the ring has not been reported, and prior to Friday's Instagram clip, McIntyre had offered no clues himself on social media. The Undisputed WWE Championship is currently held by Sami Zayn on the blue brand, with the likes of McIntyre's heated rival, CM Punk, Kevin Owens, and others circling the gold.
