Following his win in at Clockwork Carnage, Will Ospreay is now three defenses into his reign as AEW Men's World Champion, more than enough to make him the undisputed top champion of the AEW men's division in most people's eyes. That's not a view shared by former AEW World Champion MJF, however, who has continued to insist his title loss to Kenny Omega back in July was unfair, and thus has been referring to himself as the Real World Champion, while carrying around his Triple B with him. At the post WrestleDream press scrum, Ospreay was asked about all this, leading to a playful exchange with AEW owner Tony Khan.

"What are you going to do to solve this problem?" Ospreay said to Khan. "There's a governing body that hands these out, there's a whole team around this thing, and he can just walk in with the belt?"

"Where has he walked into?" Khan said. "He hasn't been here!"

"Oh yeah, to be fair, he's been hiding away," Ospreay said. "Let him go there. If he ever wants to come out and find out who the real champion is, he knows where I am. B***h."

MJF has been away from AEW since All In, where he came up short in winning a guaranteed World Title shot in the Casino Gauntlet match won by rival Andrade El Idolo. Instead, MJF has set his sights on New Japan Pro Wrestling, calling out G1 Climax winner Ryohei Oiwa for a match and promising to defend the "actual" AEW World Title. Despite that, many have expected that MJF will return to AEW by the end of the year and renew his feud with Ospreay, whom MJF defeated to win the AEW International Championship on 2024 episode of "Dynamite" before Ospreay regained the title at All In.
