  • Tamaya was introduced to pro wrestling at five years old when she began watching WWF video tapes with her dad.
  • Fusing her passions for pro wrestling and academia, she has presented in the Pop Culture Association conference's Soap Opera and Serialized Storytelling category and Ball State University's Practical Criticism Midwest, winning an Excellent Presentation Award at the latter.
  • During her two years living in Japan, she attended shows by Diana, Dragon Gate, Ice Ribbon, NJPW (including WK12), NOAH, Stardom, and TJPW.


Tamaya began writing about pro wrestling as a student, exploring wrestling's relationships with 19th-century and contemporary culture. Though she initially intended to complete a doctoral program with a focus on pro wrestling, her premature departure from academia shifted her focus to writing for pro wrestling media. She has written articles for Fightful Magazine and is currently a contributing writer for Pro Wrestling Illustrated.


Tamaya earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in English Literature from the "Harvard of Muncie," Ball State University.
